A holiday with a dog often sounds easier than it is. Many places only allow dogs with restrictions, and spontaneous outings get complicated. On a houseboat it's different: it's your floating home, and your dog is simply part of everyday life. You decide when to set off, when to moor and where to stay longer.
On a boat there's no popping out without your dog. Your dog is always with you, which makes for a relaxed feeling on both sides.
Instead of roads and traffic, you'll find waterways, meadows, small bays and quiet moorings. That's ideal for long walks without stress.
A houseboat holiday suits sensitive dogs especially well: no noise, no crowds, no rush. Many dogs become noticeably calmer here.
Dogs are not allowed on every boat. On some boats only small dogs are permitted. The boats above and in the list behind the button are therefore filtered by pet permission. Please add your dog when booking so we can reserve a suitable boat and plan the cleaning accordingly.
On the Woma boats the dog is an optional extra, currently 100 € per booking. For boats from other operators the rule may differ. You'll see the exact terms for each boat before booking.
My dog doesn't know water: that's not a problem. Many dogs get used to it surprisingly quickly, especially if you stay calm.
I have no experience with boats: many of our houseboats are licence-free. After a briefing of around three hours you receive the charter certificate for your trip. More on our page about renting a houseboat without a licence.
What if something doesn't work out: you're flexible and can stop, pause or change the day at any time.
